You need this base of you want to purchase the 12ft umbrella. This is the best base I have found for a patio umbrella. To stabilize the weight distribution all you need to do is fill it with water which is better than adding sand bags to the base. What makes this base so unique is that it has WHEELS… this was the major selling point for me. I have another patio umbrella I purchased from HomeDepot. Although it is a nice unit it was a pain in the a**** to move around when needed. This unit has its own wheels that drops down and you are able to move this unit around with ease, when you find your final spot you raise the sheen back up so that the base settles down to provide stability. This is the best umbrella base around. You are also able to move the umbrella around like a clock dial with its unique locking dial for your best coverage without having to move the base around.
